hmv's Next Big Thing... #195 Purple Heart Parade

Every Wednesday we recommend a brand new artist who we think you're going to love. This week we bring you shoegaze-drenched Mancunians Purple Heart Parade...

Who Are They?

Purple Heart Parade are made up of singer Peter Cowap, bassist Ste Woods, guitarists Ryan Arnfield and Sam Bugajski as well as drummer Chris Norwood. Formed in 2012, they've released a string of well-received singles and supported the likes of Temples, Toy and Swervedriver.

Now signed up to uber cool label AC30, home of Fever Dream and Ringo Deathstarr, the group have just unveiled their new EP Lonestar.

What Do They Sound Like?

The starting points are vintage Stone Roses and early Verve, with 70s krautrock and The Velvet Underground's taste for the epic thrown in too.

Why Should I Be Excited?

Spacey grooves and elegant melodies, they're a bewitching listen.

Can I Hear Something?

Make sure you do. Their new jam 'Mission Hills' is below for you:
