hmv's Next Big Thing... #203 Crewel Intentions
Every Wednesday we recommend a brand new artist who we think you're going to love. This week we bring you Crewel Intentions, an outfit formed from the ashes of former indie favourites Palma Violets...
Who Are They?
You might well know Chilli Jesson as the frontman of Palma Violets, the fiery indie types, who sadly disbanded in 2016. The other members of the band have stuck together, forming Gently Tender with Celia Archer of The Big Moon, while Jesson has created Crewel Intentions, which is his solo baby.
He's gigged throughout 2018, but it's only now we've finally heard recorded music.
What Do They Sound Like?
The pace and verve of Palma Violets is a long way from Crewel Intentions, their sound is far more louche. Imagine Nick Cave powered by an epic Ennio Morricone score.
Why Should I Be Excited?
Jesson is someone who is always worth listening to and he's building something very interesting here.
Can I Hear Something?
Absolutely. Their new single 'Youth In Overload' is below for you:
