hmv's Next Big Thing... #212 Flora Cash

Every Wednesday we recommend a brand new artist who we think you're going to love. This week we bring you floral Swedish-American pop-duo Flora Cash...

Who Are They?

Flora Cash are married couple Shpresa Lleshaj and Cole Randall. Lleshaj hails from Stockholm, while Randall is from Minneapolis. The pair connected over Soundcloud and began making together after they met up in Minneapolis in 2012.

After a series of acclaimed EPs, they released their debut album Nothing Lasts Forever (And It's Fine) in April 2017 on small Swedish label Icons Creating Evil Art.

However, it was a song from that album, 'You're Somebody Else', that took the band to much wider attention after it was used in a viral Movistar commercial in Mexico.

That track has now been streamed over 30 million times and has earned the pair a deal with Sony imprint RCA.

What Do They Sound Like?

This is elegant whispery folk. Think Death Cab For Cutie's quieter moments and vintage First Aid Kit.

Why Should I Be Excited?

The pair's harmonies are beautiful and their songs have a rustic charm all of their own.

Can I Hear Something?

Absolutely. Their gorgeous jam 'You're Somebody Else' is below for you:
