hmv's Next Big Thing... #251 Porridge Radio
Every Wednesday we recommend a brand new artist who we think you're going to love. This week we bring you intimate indie types Porridge Radio...
Who Are They?
Porridge Radio initially began in 2012 as a solo project for Brighton-based Dana Margolin, but is now a fully-fledged five-piece.
Their debut album, Rice, Pasta and Other Fillers, was originally released on cassette, before being reissued by indie label Memorials of Distinction. Now, after a string of excellent further singles and support tours with Soccer Mommy and Dream Wife, they have now signed to Secretly Canadian, home of Stella Donnelly, Shura and ANOHNI.
Their second album is now on the way, with more formats planned this time...
What Do They Sound Like?
This is intimate and delicate indie. You can hear a lot of Cat Power, Harvest era Neil Young and Bjork in the mix.
Why Should I Be Excited?
The above sounds pretty good to us.
Can I Hear Something?
Absolutely. Their new jam 'Lilac' is below for your listening pleasure:
