hmv's Next Big Thing... #275 Sophie Jamieson

Every Wednesday we recommend a brand new artist who we think you're going to love. This week we bring you returning songstress Sophie Jamieson...

Who Is She?

Jamieson garnered a lot of hype and acclaim back in 2013 with the release of a superb debut EP and was compared to Laura Marling, Daughter and other folky types. But then she decided that a career in music wasn't for her and she pursued other avenues.

Now regrouped and with a brand new collection of songs, Jamieson is building again.

What Does She Sound Like?

Jamieson's sound is a blend of classic, Joni Mitchell esque folk, with elements of soft ethereal electronica. Imagine Cate Le Bon being produced by Fourt Tet and you're somewhere near her sound.

Why Should I Be Excited?

This is lilting, elegant folk. She's a welcome re-addition to things.

Can I Hear Something?

Absolutely. Her new jam 'Release' is below for you...
