hmv's Next Big Thing... #39 Hinds
Every Wednesday we recommend a brand new artist who we think you're going to love. This week we bring you Spanish alt-rockers Hinds and their delightful tunes...
Who Are They?
This foursome started as a twosome in 2011 in the Spanish capital of Madrid before eventually morphing into a quartet. They were called Deers for a long-time until they got threatened with a lawsuit from another band with that name so they changed to Hinds (the female name for Deers of course..). They've released a few scrappy glorious singles, toured the planet and are now readying their debut album which is due out next year...
Who Do They Sound Like?
The guitars squeal like early Sleater Kinney, the choruses are pure Strokes and the harmonies are prised straight from the best of doo-wop. It's a potent combination.
Why Should I Be Excited?
This is stripped back, glorious, slacker indie pop. What's not to love about that?
Can I Hear Something?
Course you can. Their new single 'Chili Town' is below and you can check out their early tracks here in our digital store.
