hmv's Next Big Thing... #97 Avante Black
Every Wednesday we recommend a brand new artist who we think you're going to love. This week we bring you sultry rockers Avante Black...
Who Are They?
Avante Black are based in London, but are led by Swedish singer Ottilia Zimmerman Kjulsten, who is backed by a band that includes a Brit, Italian and another Swede. They've only released two tracks so far, but their self-released debut 'Imaginary Love' pricked up enough ears to earn them a deal with Different Recordings and studio time with Luke Smith, the man who was behind the controls on Foals' Total Life Forever.
Who Do They Sound Like?
Imginary the dreamy indie pop of Wolf Alice and early Cardigans doing battle with the harder edges of Primal Scream and The Jesus and Mary Chain.
Why Should I Be Excited?
Kjulsten's voice glides gloriously above the bombastic two tracks they've released so far and we can't wait to hear more.
Can I Hear Something?
Absolutely. Their new single 'Drug Money' is below for you and available here in hmv's digital store.
