hmv tips for 2014… Denai Moore
Every day throughout January we're going to be introducing you to a new act who we think are going to everywhere in 2014. Today it’s new folk heroine Denai Moore, let's see what she's all about…
Who Is She?
Denai Moore is a 19-year old singer-songwriter who hails from East London. So far she's out two EPs, one titled Saudade and the other titled The Lake and toured with the likes of Tom Odell and Volcano Choir, setting her up very nicely for 2014 when her debut album will emerge.
Who Does She Sound Like?
Moore sounds like exact mid-point between Bon Iver and Lauryn Hill, full of clever, witty lyrics, influenced by the best of hip-hop from the last decade and the most innovative music from the world of folk, with the likes of Feist, Joni Mitchell, The Civil Wars and Laura Marling definitely in the mix.
Why Should I Be Excited?
Because tender, elegant, witty folk songs never go out of style and Moore's got lots and lots of those.
