hmv tips for 2014… Gunning For Tamar
Every day throughout January we're going to be introducing you to a new act who we think are going to everywhere in 2014. Today it’s the turn of Oxford alt-rockers Gunning For Tamar, if you love early Biffy Clyro, but wish they'd written some bigger riffs, then you're going to be in heaven with this lot…
Who Are They?
The foursome consist of D'arcy King, Dan Pollard, Joe Wallis and Ben Green and hail from Oxford. Formed in 2009, the band have released a series of extremely well-received EPs, including last year's 'Camera Lucida', which featured in our EPs of the year.
Who Do They Sound Like?
Raw, rhythmic alt-rock, which is full of invention and power. Think Future Of The Left with much bigger choruses, Mogwai without the need to be so epic all the time, early Biffy with better riffs, all of this and more.
Why Should I Be Excited?
Because their songs are full of innovation, powerful grooves and big riffs, what more could you need?
Can I Hear Something?
Course you can. You can listen to 'Swallower' from 'Camera Lucida' here and you can preview/download the whole EP over at our download store.
