hmv tips for 2014… Natives
Every day throughout January we're going to be introducing you to a new act who we think are going to everywhere in 2014. Today it’s the turn of New Forest lads Natives, they come with choruses…
Who Are They?
Formed back in 2012, Natives are a five-piece who hail from the New Forest. After lots of gigs and a few well-received releases, the band were suddenly contacted on Twitter by John Feldman (Goldfinger frontman, producer and songwriting maestro) who invited them to Los Angeles to work with him on some new songs.
The result is their debut album Indoor War, which drops on March 17th.
Who Do They Sound Like?
This is pure, unadulterated, unconcerned pop-rock. The choruses are the size of small countries; the melodies are smooth as freshly woven silk and the production is clean, as you like. Think early Jimmy Eat World, vintage Taking Back Sunday, Bruce Springsteen when he really goes for it, all mixed up with some Oasis-style huge production.
Why Should I Be Excited?
If the slate of influences cited above isn't enough, they're also a damn fine live band.
Can I Hear Something?
You can for sure. Check out their new single 'This Island' below.
