hmv tips for 2014… Neck Deep
Every day throughout January we're going to be introducing you to a new act who we think are going to everywhere in 2014. Today it’s the turn of Welsh pop punkers Neck Deep who release their debut album Wishful Thinking today.
Who Are They?
Neck Deep hail from Wrexham in the heart of Wales and consist of singer Ben Barlow, guitarist Lloyd Roberts, guitarist Matt West, bass player Fil Thorpe-Evans and drummer Dani Washington. Formed in 2012, the band have gigged themselves into a frenzy over the last 18 months, recording as they went. Eventually, in the autumn of 2012, they released their debut EP Rain In July, which brought them to the attention of Hopeless Records (home of All Time Low, We Are The In Crowd and Yellowcard amongst others). They were duly snapped up and got to work on their debut album, which is out today. You can read our chat with them about it here.
Who Do They Sound Like?
Imagine a perfect fusion of New Found Glory, The Wonder Years, vintage Green Day and Descendents. Yup, that's about the size of it.
Why Should I Be Excited?
Because Neck Deep are the most exciting pop-punk band the UK has produced for quite some time. Their album is packed to the gills full of massive choruses, nagging hooks and buzzsaw riffs. You'll be hearing lots more from them this year.
Can I Hear Something?
You can hear the band's recent single 'Crushing Grief (No Remedy)' below.
