hmv tips for 2014… Radstewart

Every Wednesday we recommend a brand new artist who we think you're going to love. This week we bring you it's slacker rockers Radstewart and their wonky pop goodness...

Who Are They?

Cardiff's Radstewart are a total joy. Bespactled, cynical and wonderfully grounded in damp, cold, unsettling reality, they've been going since 2012, but have only started to pick up momentum recently thanks to some stellar live shows and their witty, brash, wonky pop single 'Insane Parties'.

Who Do They Sound Like?

Mention the phrase slacker rock and you can call all the likely influences to mind instantly, Weezer, Pavement, Sonic Youth, Beck; all of them are covered here. There's a bit of Elastica, Blur and Pixies in here too, which is no bad thing.

Why Should I Be Excited?

Because they pull off the nigh on impossible task of making standoffish slacker rock sound compelling and full of emotions. That's more than enough.

Can I Hear Something?

Of course! Their new EP 'Wiccans and Beatlemancers' is out now and you can listen to it below.
