hmv tips for 2014… Real Friends
Every day throughout January we're going to be introducing you to a new act who we think are going to everywhere in 2014. Today it’s Chicago pop-punkers Real Friends, the most exciting to come out of the windy city since Kanye West…
Who Are They?
Real Friends consist of bass player Kyle Fasel, guitarist Dave Knox, singer Dan Lambton, drummer Brian Blake and guitarist Eric Haines. They hail from the suburbs of Chicago and formed back in 2010. Since then, they've earned their stripes by spending weeks on end in the back of a van opening up for the likes of The Wonder Years and Man Overboard and released two EPs, 2012's Everyone That Dragged You Here and 2013's Put Yourself Back Together. Their debut album will come later this year.
Who Do They Sound Like?
Look at the bands they've toured with and you've got a pretty good idea, they share an earnestness with The Wonder Years, but have the same driving riffs and power pop melodies as bands like New Found Glory and Taking Back Sunday.
Why Should I Be Excited?
Their early UK shows have been incendiary, as, people learn more and more of their songs, they're sure to get even better.
