hmv.com tips... Rob Lynch
Every Wednesday we recommend a brand new artist who we think you're going to love. This week we bring you acoustic troubadour Rob Lynch...
Who Is He?
Hailing from the sunny city of Lincoln, Rob Lynch began building a following back in 2011 with the release of his self-titled EP, which became a real word of mouth success story. Three years of solid touring have followed, including many stints in mainland Europe and numerous support slots. Most recently, Lynch spent the summer on the gruelling slog that is the Warped Tour, performing on the acoustic stage daily.
Who Does He Sound Like?
Lynch makes rousing, punk-influenced acoustic folk, so the comparisons are fairly obvious, Chuck Ragan, Frank Turner, Elliott Smith, early Dashboard Confessional, there’s some heartier about Lynch though, imagine The Gaslight Anthem's quieter moments, but, you know, British, and you're pretty close.
Why Should I Be Excited?
His debut album All Of These Nights In Bars Will Somehow Save My Soul is a feast of righteous and rousing tracks, all genetically engineered to be sung loudly by big old crowds. It's released next month.
Can I Hear Something?
Sure. You can hear ‘Whisky’, the latest cut to be revealed from his debut album, below. You can also check out a number of his early singles in our digital store here.
