ISLAND open up about the inspiration behind debut album Feels Like Air

Indie rockers ISLAND have opened up about the inspiration behind their debut album Feels Like Air.

The band release the album today (April 6th) and told hmv.com that they were inspired to write the album after taking a long journey.

Guitarist Jack Raeder said: "The whole thing is written from the point of view of a passenger on a long, long drive. Sometimes they’re daydreaming, sometimes they’re asleep, but it’s the differing view you get on a long journey and how that shapes the way you look at things.”

The band also opened up about the decision to self-produce the album, with Raeder adding: “We’ve always been a very self-sufficient band. We tried working with a producer and we didn’t like the experience. We work hard, we push ourselves and we work better that way.”

ISLAND's debut album Feels Like Air is out now and available here in hmv's online store.
