Jimi Hendrix's London home to be opened to the public
A flat in Mayfair's Brook Street that was once home to legendary guitarist Jimi Hendrix is set to be opened to the public for the first time in February next year. The property at 23 Brook Street belonged to Jimi's former girlfriend Kathy Etchington and is known to have been home to the guitarist between 1968 and 1969.
The Handel House Trust have reportedly spent the last two years renovating the property to restore it to how it would have looked at the time and will house an exhibition on the guitarist beginning next year, with tickets due to go in sale in November. The trust's chairman, Alistair Stranack, says of the new exhibition: "It is hard to think of another home in the world with such a concentration of musical genius”, adding that "While it has been a pleasure to have been working in Jimi’s bedroom for the past few years, it is even more pleasing to be able to throw it open to everybody else."
