My Record Collection by County Line Runner

In My Record Collection, we dig down to the bottom of musicians' souls to find out what the most treasured parts of their record collection are. This week, it's the turn of rising Americana man County Line Runner, better known as former Lyrebirds man Adam Day. Let's see what goes for...

The first record I ever bought with my own money was…

"Yeah, this was The Prodigy's Experience. It seems a lifetime ago, but when I was a kid I used to be into a lot of dance music. I remember putting the cassette in my Ma's car and 'Jericho' opens this record. She's was like 'What the f*** is this?' The exact response you want from your Ma..."

The record that made me want to be in a band was…

"Has to be Definitely Maybe - Oasis. This changed everything for me. My old man is from Burnage in Manchester where Liam and Noel are from. So to me, it was like some distant Uncles making it. So many people I speak to in music now say this record is the reason they do it."

The record I've played more than any other is…

"This is probably Highway 61 Revisited - Bob Dylan. Oasis put me onto The Beatles then Lennon put me onto Dylan so I've listened to Dylan's records for years. If you're a musician and not into Dylan then something's gone drastically wrong."

The record that always makes me feel good is…

"Got to Dr Dre's 2001. Hands down!"

The record I turn to when I'm feeling down is…

"If I'm feeling down I try not to sit around and wallow in it but Songs Of Love & Hate - Leonard Cohen is a good one."

The record I think is the most underrated of all time is…

"This is Rings Around The World - Super Furry Animals. This is such a great record. If you've not heard it, get it."

The record with my favourite cover art is…

"Has to be New Order's Power, Corruption & Lies. Could choose so many from Peter Saville, but I love this cover and the record is great."

The record with my favourite title is…

"Wilco's Schmilco. I love it."

The record I can't understand why everybody loves is…

"I've always thought songs by Little Mix and groups like that, that are written by 40-year-old white blokes aimed at 12-year-old kids is a bit creepy."

The last record I bought was…

"It was Yawn by Bill Ryder-Jones. I've worked with Bill on my stuff he was in town doing an in-store so I took my little boy with me. It was his first gig so I bought him the record as a memento. Amazing record."

The record I'm most looking forward to hearing in 2019 is…

"Has to be Lost Girls - Bat For Lashes. I love Natasha Khan's music. She creates more than just 11 songs. She builds a world around them. Always really interesting."

The greatest record of all time is…

"As Alan Partridge once said, 'It'd have to be the best of the Beatles'..."
