My Record Collection by Duo's Ellie Rose

In My Record Collection, we dig down to the bottom of musicians' souls to find out what the most treasured parts of their record collection are. This week, it's the turn of Ellie Rose, one-half of Duo, her next project with husband Luke Pritchard, let's see what she opts for...

The first record I ever bought with my own money was...

“It was The Bangles' Different Light. Susanna Hoffs was my idol when I was a kid. I played the CD every day, it got so scratched I had to get a second one!"

The record that made me want to be in a band was...

"A record that made me want to sing was Vanessa Paradis's 'M & J'. I thought she was so iconic, I loved singing along to her music despite not speaking a word of French."

The record I’ve played more than any other is...

"J.J. Cale's Troubadour. I put it on when I’m happy, sad or throwing a dinner party."

The record that always makes me feel good is...

"It's Bruno Mars' 24K Magic. Such a happy sparkly album."

The record I turn to when I'm feeling down is...

"I love 'Everyone Says ‘Hi’ on Heathen by David Bowie. It’s one of my mama's favourite songs and it brings a lot of comfort to me. It’s so incredibly deep and well written it never fails to make me feel better."

The record I think is the most underrated of all time is...

"Listen by The Kooks. A mind-blowing album. I get so excited when someone gets to hear it for the first time because it always knocks their socks off."

The record with my favourite cover art is...

"Fresh by Sly & The Family Stone. I love it."

The record with my favourite title is...

"Honeymoon by Lana Del Rey, mostly because I wanted to use that title one day, but she got there first. However, it is a brilliant album."

The record I can't understand why everybody loves is...

"Magic by Pilot, I’ve tried, but I just don’t get it."

The last record I bought was...

"Three. Two. One by Lennon Stella. Her voice is pure magic."

The record I'm most looking forward to hearing in 2020 is...

"Claire Laffut’s record is something I am extremely excited for. Her music is fantastic."

The greatest record of all time is...

"It's Rumours by Fleetwood Mac, of course. Forever and always!"
