My Record Collection by Fakear

In My Record Collection, we dig down to the bottom of musicians' souls to find out what the most treasured parts of their record collection are. This week, it's the turn of Theo Le Vigoureux, better known as dance producer Fakear, let's see what he picks out...

The first record I ever bought with my own money was…

"I think it was the single 'Numb' from Linkin Park. I was 13 and I was angry! I was a big fan of Linkin Park back in the day and I started to play the guitar at the same time."

The record that made me want to be in a band was…

"I think it was Sum 41's All Killer No Filler. I was fascinated by the concept of the band as a gang and I started looking for musicians, to make a punk rock band!"

The record I've played more than any other is…

"Deep Forest from Deep Forest definitely. That was the first record my parents played me when I was very young, and I keep listening to it over the years, it never becomes old. It's one of the main influence for Fakear."

The record that always makes me feel good is…

"The Deep Forest album I mentioned earlier. I think that's why I keep listening to it. It brings calm and a feeling to be home. That is quite important when you spending your time touring the world!"

The record I turn to when I'm feeling down is…

"If You Wait by London Grammar. When I need to step back and relax, it's my best friend."

The record I think is the most underrated of all time is…

"Pyramid by The Alan Parsons Project. I don't know how people reacted when it was released because I wasn't born but I think it's a hidden treasure of the 70's. It's mystical and magic as Pink Floyd's Dark Side of The Moon to me."

The record with my favourite cover art is…

"Bonobo's North Borders. It inspired me a lot for my own covers, and I had the chance to work with Leif Podhajsky after that, for All Glows cover art."

The record with my favourite title is…

"The Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking by Roger Waters. Plus, it's a very good record."

The record I can't understand why everybody loves is…

"Maybe all Booba’s (he's a French Rapper) records. I admire the career, he seems so cool and I'd love to meet him, but I don't have the codes I guess, or I don't know. I just don't get it!"

The last record I bought was…

"Bonobo's Migration. I don't buy often, but when an album is so good I feel I have to do it."

The record I'm most looking forward to hearing in 2018 is…

"The next Jungle album. The singles are so good!"

The greatest record of all time is…

"So hard! Maybe Pink Floyd's Dark Side of Moon. So powerful and so perfect, it fits in every situation."

Fakear's new album All Glows is out now and available here in hmv's online store.
