My Record Collection by Faux's Lee Male

In My Record Collection, we dig down to the bottom of musicians' souls to find out what the most treasured parts of their record collection are. This week, it's the turn of rising rockers Faux and their frontman Lee Male. Let's have a look...

The first record I ever bought with my own money was…

"Jimmy Eat World - Bleed American was the first LP I purchased from a great little music shop we used to have in Salisbury called Stand Out. I still have the original CD I purchased to this day, although it's had seven new cases, three new booklets and seven new CDs."

The record that made me want to be in a band was...

"The Mars Volta - Deloused In The Commatorium. When I first heard this I could not play guitar at all and decided that I would learn how to play 'Intertiatic Esp' as it was just so wild and unhinged, I had a go, failed miserably, then decided my skill set was more suited to Blink-182 songs and had a massive pop-punk phase. At least I had a go though, right?"

The record I have played more than any other...

"Michael Jackson - Thriller easily, no matter what is going on your life or who you're with it is a 100% guarantee that you will be clicking your fingers and nodding along to this absolutely timeless record."

The record that always makes me feel good is...

"I'd say Everything Everything - Arc, probably not an obvious choice for a feel-good record but this band just is going to be the LP I make my children listen to whilst air drumming in my armchair! It's so upbeat and dynamic."

The record I turn to when I'm feeling down is....

"Sigur Ros - (untitled). Imagine writing music so emotionally powerful you don't even need to say actual words? You can just make up a nonsensical language and you audience still know exactly what you're trying to say? Incredible."

The record I think is the most underrated of all time...

"Colour - Anthology, such a great collection of songs, sure Math-Rock is a little hectic and not the easiest thing to get in to but this album does it so well!"

The record with my favourite cover art is...

"Foals - Holy Fire, I don't really know why I like it so much if i'm completely honest, I just think it's a great piece of imagery and i love album artwork that is photographic as apposed to just graphics."

The record with my favourite title is...

"Every Time I Die - The Big Dirty. It just suits the band and this record so well!"

The record i cant understand why everyone loves is...

"Ironically, Faux - Self-titled. It's just such a weird and embarrassing thing when someone tells you they love music you have written, I don't think i'll ever get used to it and i never know what to say back, yet when i meet people in bands I love it's the first thing I say to them!"

The last record I bought was...

"Creeper - Eternity, In Your Arms. Such an amazing album made by some wonderful people! Southampton has one of the most exciting bands of the year on our doorstep."

The record im most looking forward to in 2018 is...

"Don Broco - Technology. Purely because I'm so confused by what they have released so far... I've always been a big Don Broco fan but the last few singles have been so hit or miss for me!"

The greatest record of all time...

"Dr Dre - 2001. Just because it really is the greatest record of all time."
