My Record Collection by Sigma

In My Record Collection, we dig down to the bottom of musicians' souls to find out what the most treasured parts of their record collection are. This week, it's the turn of dance duo Sigma's Cam Edwards, let's see what he goes for...

The first record I ever bought with my own money was…

"It was MC Hammer's ‘U Can’t Touch This’. Ever since the MC Hammer dropped this, we have been trying to emulate his killer look. What a man..."

The record that made me want to be in a band was…

"I'd say Jamiroquai's Emergency In Planet Earth. There was a point where Jamiroquai dominated the charts and airwaves. The fusion of funk and dance music was infectious!"

The record I've played more than any other is…

"Snoop Dogg's Doggystyle. This was when Snoop was at his best. Produced by the legend, Dr Dre, this album is literally timeless and the skits and storytelling are amazing!"

The record that always makes me feel good is…

"Prince's 'I Wanna Be Your Lover'. Nothing else needs to be said about that."

The record I turn to when I'm feeling down is…

"Michael Kiwanuka's Home Again. Everything he does is gold and this album helped through a pretty difficult time. His new album is amazing too."

The record I think is the most underrated of all time is…

"It's got to Calibre's Second Sun. To be honest, I could have named any one of Calibre's earlier stuff here as its all pretty underrated, but it was at a time where drum and bass weren't getting any commercial success."

The record with my favourite cover art is…

"I'd go for Pink Floyd's The Dark Side Of The Moon. This is probably the most iconic artwork ever made and one we wish we had!"

The record with my favourite title is…

"Will Smith's Big Willie Style. Sums me up really. Not..."

The record I can't understand why everybody loves is…

"James Blunt's 'You're Beautiful'. I mean Blunt is a legend, but even he takes the p*ss out of his own voice! I don't get it."

The last record I bought was…

"It was LTJ Bukem's 'Atlantis'. Great record."

The record I'm most looking forward to hearing in 2020 is…

"Sigma's Chroma. Yes, this is our new album title!"

The greatest record of all time is…

"Michael Jackson's Bad. Sorry, an obvious choice but the production by Quincy Jones is way ahead of its time. What a legend."
