My Record Collection by The Wanted's Max George

In My Record Collection, we dig down to the bottom of musicians' souls to find out what the most treasured parts of their record collection are. This week, it's the turn of Max George. Once of The Wanted, now going solo, let's see what he opts for...

The first record I ever bought with my own money was…

"This was Definitely Maybe by Oasis. These guys were the first band I ever really listened to, and they're still my favourite to this day. Not sure where I got the money from to buy it at the time though..."

The record that made me want to be a singer was…

"For this, I'd say The Very Best Of Otis Redding. I loved the soul in his voice, and I would always try and mimic him as a kid."

The record I've played more than any other is…

"Arctic Monkeys' AM. My brother got me into them about 10 years ago, and I just think this album is genius. I would have it on repeat when I was touring with The Wanted."

The record that always makes me feel good is…

"This is Battleground by The Wanted. Sounds cheesy, I know, but it takes me back to a great time in my life. I have a lot of great memories making this album with some amazing people."

The record I turn to when I'm feeling down is…

"'Lean On Me' by Bill Withers. This is a song that means a lot to me, and has helped me through some dark times. It's one that will always be close to my heart."

The record I think is the most underrated of all time is…

"Beady Eye's Different Gear, Still Speeding. I thought this album was class but I didn't see it much anywhere? Maybe I was busy at the time..."

The record with my favourite cover art is…

"Definitely Maybe by Oasis. It's just iconic to me, but then isn't it to everyone?"

The record with my favourite title is…

"What's The Story Morning Glory by Oasis. I think it speaks for itself. It's also one of the greatest albums of all time."

The record I can't understand why everybody loves is…

"'Tragedy' By Steps. It was always on when I was growing up, and it drove me insane!"

The last record I bought was…

"Lauv. I've worked with this guy and he's super talented. Really excited for what's next with him too."

The record I'm most looking forward to hearing in 2019 is…

"Even though it’s already out, I'd say What A Time To Be Alive by Tom Walker. I've followed him for a while now, and he keeps coming with tune after tune. There are a lot of brilliant collaborations on there too."

The greatest record of all time is…

"The Marshall Mathers LP by Eminem. I think he revolutionised rap music, and I don't think its ever been the same. This album has absolutely everything."

Max George's new single 'Better On Me' is out now.
