My Record Collection by Willie J. Healey

In My Record Collection, we dig down to the bottom of musicians' souls to find out what the most treasured parts of their record collection are. This week, it's the turn of singer-songwriter Willie J. Healey...

The first record I ever bought with my own money was…

"Fifth album by Judy Collins, I don’t really listen to it now but it has an amazing cover. That’s really why I bought it."

The record that made me want to be in a band was…

"Harvest by Neil Young, come on.. it NY baby."

The record I've played more than any other is…

"After the Gold Rush. It’s like air to me. You need it in your life."

The record that always makes me feel good is…

"Freewheeling by Bob Dylan. Bob young, handsome and in love."

The record I turn to when I'm feeling down is…

"Rust Never Sleeps. Like putting your wet hand in a plug socket, it’s hot it’s heavy and it’s a masterpiece."

The record I think is the most underrated of all time is…

"Astral Weeks. I know it’s a classic and people like it, but for me it’s not praised enough! Van's the man."

The record with my favourite cover art is…

"Ry Cooder - Bop Till You Drop. He’s in this pink suit with his cooder caster, it’s really striking and perfectly sums up the record!"

The record with my favourite title is…

"Chicken Skin Music. What a trio of words."

The record I can't understand why everybody loves is…

"Exile on Main Street, I like the story of how it was made and blah blah. The documentary is really cool but I just don’t get the music.. I am a stones fan by the way."

The last record I bought was…

"Exile on Main Street."

The record I'm most looking forward to hearing in 2020 is…

"Whatever Sam Evian is working on is sure to be amazing. He’s just got the magic!"

The greatest record of all time is…

"Neil Young - On the Beach."
