N-Dubz mainman Dappy found guilty of assault
Dappy, frontman of hip-hop trio N-Dubz, has been found guilty of assaulting a man in a Reading nightclub.
The singer, whose real name is Costadinos Contostavlos, has been found guilty of punching a man in a row over a young woman at a nightclub.
The 27-year old was found guilty of assaulting Devonn Reid, who stated that he told Dappy to stop talking to his female friend and girlfriend at the bar in Evissa Nightclub on Ocrober 6th last year, reports BBC News.
At the hearing in Reading Magistrates Court, prosecuting lawyer Zainab Mohamed told the court that Reid had gone to the club to celebrate his 21st birthday, she said: "He (Reid) becomes aware of a male who, he says, he recognised to be a person called Dappy from a music group. He says that, because a male is having a conversation with his female friend, he intervenes and advises the defendant his actions are not appropriate. He says he is punched out of nowhere once in the face, causing bleeding to stream out of his nose."
Reid alleged that Dappy has his arm around his female friend Marie O'Reilly and said of the alleged attack: "He had just turned and hit me straight with his right hand... he had popped my nose."
Jon Harrison, who was defending, suggested to Reid that he was drunk that night and that Ms O'Reilly had been talking with someone else and that another man had been the one to hit him, all of which Reid denied.
This is Dappy's second conviction for assault in recent months, coming three months after the rapper was fined £800 pounds for slapping a man outside a nightclub in Chelmsford, Essex, on February 27th.
He will now reappear in court on October 6th to be sentenced.
