Nicole Scherzinger's Big Fat Lie - What You Need To Know
Former Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger is back and on Monday (October 20th) she will release her second-awaited album Big Fat Lie. Here is everything you’ll need to know to prepare for then...
What’s the background?
Although perhaps it's a while ago now, Scherzy used to be part of the five-piece burlesque troupe,The Pussycat Dolls and now the Hawaiian descendant is due to release her highly anticipated, second studio album, Big Fat Lie (which you can preview on the right of the page). The album succeeds the release of lead single, 'Your Love', 'Run' and the second official single 'On The Rocks'.
In 2012, the 36-year-old left her position as a judge on The X Factor UK to head back to the studio to work on her upcoming album and in a few days time voila, we will have this urban/R&B influenced pop compilation.
Keeping in mind her first album Killer Love was released a few years ago (2011) she's promised that this long-awaited album will bring a deep and meaningful feel to your life (lots of big-hair flicks still included).
Who’s producing it?
Executive produced by Christopher 'Tricky' Stewart and Terius Youngdell Nash, better known as The Dream, who’s co-written tracks like Britney Spears' 'Me Against The Music', Rihanna's mega-hit 'Umbrella', Beyoncé's enduring dancefloor filler 'Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)' and YouTube-grown popstar Justin Bieber's 'Baby'.
Other writers include, Justin Tranter and T.I himself.
Any big-name collaborators?
More big-named writers than collabos, but big-in-the-game rapper T.I features on the track 'Electric Blue', which has a bit of a Janet Jackson like feel to it.
What are the standout tracks?
Breezy summer-smash 'Your Love', electro-ballad 'On The Rocks' and US lead single 'Run'.
Does it deliver?
Although the journey to solo stardom hasn’t come easy for the girl who’s usually the lead siren, her first album was, to be quite frank, a bit of a flop. Scherzy’s now attempted to succeed in a softer direction, hence the album title name. Usually she’s partial to a club-beat but prepare to get a bit teary-eyed. As Scherzy put it, it’s a bit of a “vibe”.
Nicole Scherzinger’s Big Fat Lie is released Monday (October 20th). She will be signing copies of the album on Monday at hmv 363 Oxford Street. Find more details here.
