One Direction break silence on Zayn Malik departure
One Direction have spoken to the media for the first time following Zayn Malik opted to quit the band and have committed to fans that they will continue in Malik’s absence.
Speaking to The Sun, the remaining members of the band stated that the last few weeks have been “probably the toughest since the band was formed five years ago.”
Liam Payne continued: “We’re gutted that Zayn chose to leave, but now after a few performances we’re feeling confident and are determined to carry on stronger than ever.”
The band also served to quash any rumours that there might be more withdrawals from the band in future, stating that “all four of us are 100% committed to staying in One Direction and we want to thank the fans for being so incredible during this time.
“We have so much more we still want to achieve”, Payne added. “Our gigs in South Africa were some of the biggest the country has even seen, so it’s exciting for us to keep breaking records for British music worldwide.”
