One Direction promise their new album will be "more edgy"
One Direction have promised that their new studio album will be "more edgy".
The boyband are currently working on the follow-up to 2013's hugely successful Midnight Memories and have also revealed that they are taking a more hands on role in writing songs for the album, rather than relying on outside songwriters, as they have largely done for their previous three efforts.
Speaking on The Today Show, member Niall Horan said when asked about the direction the band's new album was taking: "I think it’s going to be a little bit more edgy. But obviously we feel like we’ve got some really good songs and we are happy.”
Fellow member Liam Payne added: "We’ve all taken a hand in the writing this time,” Liam said. “And we’ve literally written almost every song.”
Last month, One Direction announced that they will release a new concert film titled Where We Are. The concert was filmed during the band's live show earlier this year at Milan's San Siro Stadium in Italy and will be in cinemas across the weekend of October 11th and 12th.
The film will be released on DVD on December 1st. Where We Are: The Concert Film will be executive produced by Simon Cowell and made by the same production team behind the band's previous documentary film This Is Us, which grossed over $67 million worldwide.
