Phil Collins reveals he won't feature on Adele's new album
Phil Collins will not be featuring on Adele's new album, he has confirmed.
The 'Another Day In Paradise' singer had previously said that he'd been contacted by Adele to work on material for the follow-up to 21(which you can preview on the right of the page), but has now revealed that the writing he did with her was not productive and will not feature on her new record.
Speaking to Q, he said: "She (Adele) got hold of me and asked if I would write with her. She gave me a piece of music to finish and at first I didn’t know if I'd failed the audition as I didn’t hear back from her."
He continued: "She said, 'No, no, I'm moving house and the baby's taking up a lot of my time, I’m not actually doing anything at the moment.' And now I’ve heard there’s a [new album] coming out. I’m not on it, I know that. She’s a slippery little fish is Adele."
Earlier this month, record label XL has revealed that there will no new album or material of any kind from Adele this year.
It had been long suggested that the singer would release the follow-up to her hugely successful album in the latter weeks of 2014, but XL have now confirmed that this will not be happening.
According to Rolling Stone, a financial report that they have seen states that there will be no new album from the singer and consequently the label's profits will be down.
The report reads: "There will not be a further new release by Adele during 2014 and consequently there will be a fall in XL's turnover and profits. Nevertheless, the directors are confident that by pursuing management policies... XL will continue to achieve success with other artists."
Adele is certainly working on new material, this has been confirmed by a number of big-name collaborators, including OneRepublic's Ryan Tedder and rapper Wiz Khalifa, who revealed recently that a duet he had recorded with the singer had been scrapped before release.
