"I just wanted to better myself as a singer and a songwriter..." hmv.com talks to Sam Smith
Three years on from his sensational debut album In The Lonely Hour, Sam Smith returns this week with his long-awaited follow-up, The Thrill of It All. Produced once again by Steve Fitzmaurice and Jimmy Napes - with added help from others including Timbaland and Malay - Smith hopes his new album will be a showcase for his songwriting talents and to celebrate its release the singer paid a visit to our store on London's Oxford Street to meet fans and sign copies of his new record.
We caught up with Sam to talk about what he wanted to achieve on his new album, why Aretha Franklin and Joni Mitchell were such a big inspiration for the songs on the new record, and his touring plans over the next few months.
