Shortlist for BRITS' Rising Star Award unveiled

Originally known as Critics' Choice, the BRIT Award launched in 2008 and looks to identify a rising star of British music for the year ahead.

Holly Humberstone, Bree Runaway and Lola Young have been nominated for the BRIT Awards' Rising Star Award.

Griff won the award in 2021, while past winners include the likes of Adele, Florence + The Machine, Sam Smith, Ellie Goulding and Sam Fender. 

The BRITs Rising Star award shortlist is selected by an invited panel of music editors, critics, online music editors, heads of music at major radio and music TV stations as well as songwriters, producers and live bookers.

To qualify, an artist, as of 31st October 2021, have must not yet achieved an Official Album Charts Top 20 placing or achieved more than one Top 20 chart placing in the Official Singles Chart.

The winner of the Rising Star award will be revealed on 10th December. 

The BRIT Awards will take place on Tuesday 8th February at The O2 Arena with comedian Mo Gilligan hosting.
