Singer Alvin Stardust dies aged 72
Singer Alvin Stardust has passed away at the age of 72.
The singer, whose hits included 'My Coo Ca Choo', 'Jealous Mind' and 'I Feel Like Buddy Holly', passed away after a short illness.
Stardust, who was born Bernard Jewry in 1942, had been diagnosed with metastatic prostate cancer and died at home with his wife and family around him.
The glam rocker had been working on a new studio album, which was due for release this year, it is now unknown whether that will come out.
He released five studio albums during his career as well as a string of hit singles. He also appeared on stage in such musicals as Godspell, The Phantom of the Opera and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, in which he was critically lauded for his performance as the fearsome Child Catcher.
