"Before any of them had reached the age of 18, The Strypes released an iTunes chart-topping EP signed to Sir Elton John's management company and unleashed a Top 10 debut album. They continued to ride a wave of success with sophomore record Little Victories and have now returned with their third effort, Spitting Image. The majority of the band's material in the past has been written by the guitarist, Josh McClorey, and half the songs on this album have been contributed by the rhythm section, Evan Walsh on drums and Pete O'Hanlon on bass; frontman Ross Farrelly as ever does a stellar job with delivery. With this in mind, the band have grown since their rhythm 'n' blues early days and fleshed out a sound inspired by figureheads such as Elvis Costello, The Jam and Arctic Monkeys. Spitting Image is filled with snappy guitar lines and wittily observant lyrics, showcasing The Strypes' transition from boys to men."
