Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver frontman Scott Weiland dies, aged 48
Sad news arrived this morning with the announcement that former Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver frontman Scott Weiland has died. Weiland was reportedly found dead yesterday evening on his tour bus, according to a statement issued by police in Minnesota, where his body was discovered.
"On Dec. 3rd at 8:22 p.m., officers responded to a report of an unresponsive adult male in a recreational motor vehicle located in the 2200 block of Killebrew Drive,” reads the statement, adding that: “Officers arrived and determined the adult male was deceased."
A post on his Facebook page confirmed the news a few hours later:
"Scott Weiland, best known as the lead singer for Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver, passed away in his sleep while on a tour stop in Bloomington, Minnesota, with his band The Wildabouts. At this time we ask that the privacy of Scott’s family be respected."
No cause of death has yet been announced.
