The Wombats have announced that they will be releasing their third album Glitterbug in April.

We’re delighted and proud to reveal the artwork and title for our third album #GLITTERBUG! We’ve had an absolutely cracking time in the studio and can’t wait for you guys to finally hear it. We know you’ve been waiting a long time and so you’ll be able to pre-order the album from January 2015. Make sure you sign up at www.thewombats.co.uk to be the first to hear. Murph, Tord & Dan. xo
It has been produced by Bastille collaborator Mark Crew, and according to the album's official press release, Glitterbug has been inspired by the idea of "of writing about a tumultuous relationship with a fictional woman from Los Angeles".
Speaking about the album, frontman Matthew 'Murph' Murphy added: "That became the main inspiration for most of the songs, this false world that I’d created for myself. As time progressed, I’d go to L.A. more and more, and the idea kept on building. The album’s about the envy and the struggle and the pretence and the worry and the fear that L.A. – and every major city in the world – encompasses.”
Songs set to be included on the album include 'Give Me A Try', 'Greek Tragedy', 'Emoticons', 'Be Your Shadow', 'This Is Not A Party' and 'Your Body Is A Weapon', which has previously been released as a free download and can be heard at the bottom of the page.
The band will tour in support of the album in April as well, playing nine dates. The trek begins on April 8th at Bristol's O2 Academy and runs until April 19th when the band headline Newcastle's O2 Academy.
