Edwards was also involved with the Prince's Trust and was awarded an MBE for services to music in 2014.

At a vigil held in Acton in west London, where Edwards grew up, pictures and flowers were laid alongside message of loss and condolence, while the tributes paid to Edwards show how his impact reached far beyond the music industry alone.

Prince Charles is just one of many figures to pay tribute to Edwards this week, saying in a statement: “His work in music but also as an ambassador for a new generation, including his work for The Prince's Trust, were an inspiration to so many."
