UK vinyl sales top one million for the first time since 1996
More than one million albums have been sold on vinyl in the UK this year.
For the first time since 1996, more than one million LPs have been purchased on vinyl by UK consumers in 2014, an especially impressive figure given there are almost five weeks still to go until the end of the year, reports the Official Charts Company.
This has been recently helped by Pink Floyd, who have sold more than 6,000 copies of their new album The Endless River, making it the fastest-selling vinyl album of the century so far.
Arctic Monkeys' much-acclaimed 2013 album AM is the UK's biggest-selling vinyl album of the year, with Jack White's Lazaretto, Royal Blood's self-titled debut album and the re-release of Oasis's debut Definitely Maybe also in the top five biggest sellers as well as Pink Floyd.
Other albums in the top 10 biggest sellers include The Stone Roses, Pink Floyd's The Dark Side Of The Moon and each of Led Zeppelin's first three studio albums.
