XL confirm that there will be no new Adele album in 2014
Record label XL has revealed that there will no new album or material of any kind from Adele this year.
It had been long suggested that the singer would release the follow-up to her hugely successful album 21 (which you can preview on the right of the page) in the latter weeks of 2014, but XL have now confirmed that this will not be happening.
According to Rolling Stone, a financial report that they have seen states that there will be no new album from the singer and consequently the label's profits will be down.
The report reads: "There will not be a further new release by Adele during 2014 and consequently there will be a fall in XL's turnover and profits. Nevertheless, the directors are confident that by pursuing management policies... XL will continue to achieve success with other artists."
Adele is certainly working on new material, this has been confirmed by a number of big-name collaborators, including OneRepublic's Ryan Tedder, Phil Collins and rapper Wiz Khalifa, who revealed recently that a duet he had recorded with the singer had been scrapped before release.
It's no surprise that Adele is in no hurry to release a follow-up album, so far, 21 has sold over 30 million copies and continues to earn the singer over $130,000 a day in royalties.
