1990 horror Arachnophobia set for remake

Hit comedy-horror Arachnophobia is to be remade. 

According to Deadline, James Wan is to produce the remake through his Atomic Monster company. 

The original was released in 1990, with Jeff Daniels, Julian Sands, Harley Jane Kozak and John Goodman staring, Frank Marshall directing and future Star Wars producer Kathleen Kennedy overseeing the process. 

It told the story of a large spider from the jungles of Venezuela who is accidentally transported in a crate with a dead body to America where it mates with a local spider.

Soon after, the residents of a small California town disappear as the result of spider bites from the deadly spider offspring. To stop it, two doctors and an insect exterminator must team up...
