Minions: The Rise Of Gru

Having grossed over a billion dollars, the Despicable Me prequel gets a second outing, this time charting the origins of supervillain Gru. 

Set just after the 2015 film, this time in the early 1970s, a 12-year old Gru is growing up in the suburbs. A fanboy of a supervillain group known as the Vicious 6, Gru hatches a plan to become evil enough to join them.

When the Vicious 6 fire their leader, legendary fighter Wild Knuckles, Gru interviews to become their newest member.

It does not go well, and things only get worse after Gru steals a precious stone from them with the help of Kevin, Stuart, Bob, Otto, and the other Minions and suddenly finds himself the mortal enemy of the apex of evil...

Tim Minchin's musical adaptation of Roald Dahl's classic story, which made its debut on stage back in 2011, gets a big-screen retelling in 2022. 

Matilda, which was put on cinema screens in 1996, follows the title character, Matilda Wormwood, a gifted girl forced to put up with a crude, distant father and mother.

Worse, Agatha Trunchbull, the evil principal at Matilda's school, is a terrifyingly strict bully.

However, when Matilda realises she has the power of telekinesis, she begins to defend her friends from Trunchbull's wrath and fight back against her unkind parents...

After unintentionally helping an elderly woman and being called a "good boy", Wolf, the gang's leader, tires of living a life of crime and tries to convince his predatory partners in crime to do the same and become good...

Barnard Waber's much-loved story comes to the big screen at the end of 2022.

We will follow Lyle, a crocodile who lives in a house on East 88th Street in New York City.

Lyle enjoys helping the Primm family with everyday chores and playing with the neighbourhood kids but one neighbour insists that Lyle belongs in a zoo.

Mr Grumps and his cat, Loretta, do not like crocodiles, and Lyle tries to prove that he is not as bad as others might first think.


Turning Red

Starring: Rosalie Chiang, Sandra Oh, Ava Morse, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, Hyein Park, Orion Lee, Wai Ching Ho, James Hong

Domee Shi, who has played a key role on Pixar classics Inside/Out and The Good Dinosaur, takes charge of this tender new adventure. 

The film is set in Toronto, between 2002 and 2003 and follows Meilin "Mei" Lee, a confident 13-year-old Chinese-Canadian who is torn between staying her mother's dutiful daughter and the chaos of adolescence.

To add to the chaos, whenever she gets too excited or stressed, she turns into a giant red panda due to her ancestors' mystical connection with red pandas, causing all kinds of hilarity...


DC League of Super-Pets
