22 Jump Street: What You Need To Know
The sequel to 2012’s hit comedy 21 Jump Street - and based on the 1980s-era American TV police drama starring a then-unknown Johnny Depp - 22 Jump Street again freights the fish-out-of-water premise with a twist. It’s out on DVD and Blu-Ray Monday (November 17th). Here's what you need to know about it…
What’s the plot?
Best bud cops Schmidt and Jenko are back on the streets chasing narcotics, this time into college where they pose undercover as students to locate the supplier of a drug known as "WHYPHY" (Work Hard Yes Play Hard Yes) that killed a student photographed buying it on campus.
Who’s in it?
Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum reprise their roles as the nerdy and hunky (respectively) undercover officers locked into a love-hate bromance as they fight crime. Perennially wise-cracking rapper-cum-actor Ice Cube is also back. Bikini-clad girls on spring break are featured…. and there is an octopus. Of course there is.
Does it deliver?
The chemistry Hill and Tatum displayed in the first film is in evidence here, and while the older-dudes-posing-as-students premise is a bit dog-eared, it is the plot device that keep on giving, gimmick-wise. And did we mention the octopus?
22 Jump Street is released on DVD and Blu-Ray on Monday (November 17th) in hmv stores all over the UK.
