A Manchester City icon is born in the first trailer for war drama The Keeper

A first trailer for The Keeper, the new football drama about the life of Manchester City goalkeeper Bert Trautmann, has debuted online. Click below to watch it:

The film tells the story of Trautmann's journey from a German soldier and prisoner of war to become Manchester City's Number One.

That includes the notorious 1956 FA Cup Final where the goalkeeper sustained a broken neck, but played on and helped City win the trophy.

David Kross, best known for his roles in The Reader and War Horse, plays Trautmann, with Freya Mavor, John Henshaw, Harry Melling, Dave Johns, Dervla Kirwan and Gary Lewis in the supporting cast.

Marcus H. Rosenmüller directs the film.

The Keeper will be released into UK cinemas on April 5th.
