Alicia Vikander and Emma Stone linked with two separate Agatha Christie biopics
Two rival Hollywood studios are developing separate Agatha Christie biopics, with Alicia Vikander and Emma Stone set to play the author if they get the go ahead.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Vikander has been offered the role in a movie for Sony, which focuses on the period in the bestselling author's life when she decided that she did not simply want to be a wife and instead spent time with the likes of Winston Churchill and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
Stone, by contrast, is linked to play Christie in a movie directed by Easy A's Will Gluck and set up at Paramount. This movie will focus on what happened to Christie during the 11 days she went missing in 1926. For either project, which are currently titled Agatha and Agatha Christie, to go ahead they will need the approval of Christie's family.
Vikander will next be seen in the much-anticipated Jason Bourne, while Stone will appear next in La La Land, a musical where she stars opposite Ryan Gosling.
