Amber Heard, Elizabeth Banks and Donald Glover join cast of Magic Mike XXL
A slew of new additions to the cast of Magic Mike XXL, the sequel to Magic Mike, have been unveiled.
Joining the cast are The Hunger Games' star Elizabeth Banks, Drive Angry's Amber Heard, comedian Donald Glover, former American football star Michael Strahan, Four Weddings And A Funeral star Andie McDowell and Gotham's Jada Pinkett Smith.
The newcomers will join the likes of Channing Tatum, Matt Bomer, Joe Manganiello, Kevin Nash, Adam Rodriguez and Gabriel Iglesias, who will all reprise their roles from the first film. Matthew McConaughey, however, will not return for the sequel.
Studio Warner Brothers have revealed the film's official synopsis, which reads as follows (there are some spoilers if you haven't seen the first film): "Picking up the story three years after Mike bowed out of the stripper life at the top of his game, Magic Mike XXL finds the remaining Kings of Tampa likewise ready to throw in the towel."
They continue: "But they want to do it their way: burning down the house in one last blow-out performance in Myrtle Beach, and with legendary headliner Magic Mike sharing the spotlight with them. On the road to their final show, with whistle stops in Jacksonville and Savannah to renew old acquaintances and make new friends, Mike and the guys learn some new moves and shake off the past in surprising ways."
Magic Mike XXL is to be directed by Greg Jacobs, who is replacing Steven Soderbergh, who will be acting as director of photography, camera operator and film editor.
The film will be released on August 7th 2015 in the UK, with the release date around a month earlier in the US.
