Amy Adams set to star as Janis Joplin in new biopic
Amy Adams will star as Janis Joplin in a new biopic, which is set to be shot in the latter half of next year.
Adams, who will next be seen alongside Christoph Waltz in Big Eyes, the much tipped biopic of American artist Margaret Keane, has signed up to star as the hard living singer, with Jean-Marc Vallee, who most recently directed Wild and 2013's Dallas Buyer's Club, set to direct, reports the Hollywood Reporter.
A biopic of Joplin has been in the works for many years, with directors like The Butler's Lee Daniels, City Of God's Fernando Meirelles and Twilight's Catherine Hardwicke attached at various points. Renee Zellweger, Zooey Deschanel and P!nk has also all been attached to star at one point.
The film will be titled Get It While You Can and will chronicle Joplin's short, yet influential career, before her untimely death at the age of 27.
