Amy Schumer in talks to star in Barbie movie
Comedian Amy Schumer is in talks to star in a live-action, big-screen adaptation of Barbie.
According to Deadline, Schumer, who starred in hit comedy Trainwreck in 2015, is in talks to lead the movie and will most likely do a rewrite of the film's script with her sister Kim Caramele.
In the movie Schumer will play a character who lives in Barbieland among the 180 different barbies with different careers and winds up getting kicked out as she is a bit eccentric and doesn’t quite fit the mold. She then goes on an adventure in the real world, but returns to Barbieland to save it from destruction.
The movie is currently set hit cinemas in the summer of 2018 with the hunt now on for a director for the film.
There have been 36 animated Barbie movies made over the years, but this would be the first live-action take on the hugely successful range of toys.
