Anaconda set for big-budget reboot
Bloody action-horror Anaconda looks set for a reboot.
Released in 1997, the movie starred Jennifer Lopez, Ice Cube, Jon Voight, Eric Stoltz and Owen Wilson.
The film followed a documentary film crew looking for a long-lost tribe along the Amazon River. Their expedition is then a nefarious snake hunter, played by Voight, who convinces them to help him track down and capture giant record-breaking green anaconda.
The movie grossed over $135 million at the box office and spawned a sequel, 2004's Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid, as well as several TV movies.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Evan Daugherty, writer of Snow White and the Huntsman and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, has been tasked with the script for the reboot.
Backers Sony Pictures have yet to task a director or approach any actors for the reboot.
