Anthony Mackie to lead the way in Captain America 4

Anthony Mackie is to star in the fourth instalment of Captain America.

According to Deadline, Mackie has signed on to star in the new movie, which will mark his first as Captain America, having previously portrayed sidekick Falcon alongside Chris Evans' Captain America.

It was heavily hinted at the climax of Avengers: Endgame that Mackie, who played Falcon in six Marvel films beginning with Captain America: The Winter Soldier, would be taking over the role.

There's no confirmation yet as to whether the movie will involve Sebastian Stan, who starred with Mackie in the well-received Marvel Studios limited series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

No director is in place as yet, but the script for the movie is being written by The Falcon and the Winter Soldier head writer and creator Malcolm Spellman, along with series staff writer Dalan Musson.

There is no release date as yet for Captain America 4, with Marvel's next outing being Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings next month.
