Ava DuVernay set to join the DCU with New Gods adapatation
Ava DuVernay has signed up direct an adaptation of comic series New Gods for Warner Bros.
The movie, which will become part of the DC Extended Universe, is the start of a new series of interlinking movies, according to Variety.
The series was launched in 1971 and followed The New Gods, who are natives of the twin planets of New Genesis and Apokolips.
New Genesis is an idyllic place ruled by the Highfather, while Apokolips is a dystopia filled with machinery and fire pits ruled by the tyrant Darkseid. It's also the home of Justice League villain Steppenwolf.
New Genesis and Apokolips call themselves gods, living outside of normal time and space in a realm known as the Fourth World.
DuVernay's new movie A Wrinkle In Time is released into UK cinemas on March 23rd. You can read more about that here.
