Avengers: Infinity War - Five Reasons You'll Love It

With a budget somewhere between $300 and $400 million, 18 movies' worth of build-up and more heroes than you can count to take care of, movies don't come much bigger and much more challenging than Avengers: Infinity War

The movie sees the stars of Doctor Strange, Guardians Of The Galaxy and Ant-Man uniting with the current Avengers line-up for a new outing and the showdown with supervillain Thanos.

The film is directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, the men responsible for the previous two Captain America films, with a script from regular collaborators Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely.

It arrives in cinemas tomorrow (April 26th) and will be available to pre-order from hmv's online store on the same day, but ahead of that, we caught an early screening and have rounded up five reasons why you'll love it...

Thanos is a worthy foe for so many Avengers...

The obvious problem when you pit so many heroes, all of whom we've seen save our worlds and plenty of other worlds, against one man, is making him seem believable as a villain. We've not seen much of Brolin's Thanos, a small scene here, a post-credit scene there, but this is his movie. He's physically imposing, a proper powerhouse, but also full of deceit and schemes. There is no villain problem to be found here.

The heavy lifting is done with a light touch...

Markus and McFeely's biggest job, aside from making sure that the filming didn't have a 10-hour running time, was finding a way to get the Avengers together quickly and to avoid relying on anyone bumping into each other in the supermarket. It's done well and done quickly.

There are so many great set pieces...

If you've seen the trailer, you'll already be relishing the Battle of Wakanda, and you should be, it's incredible. But it's one of many huge action set pieces, all of which deliver an almighty punch. It's absolute mayhem.

It's funny...

As with all Marvel's recent output, the moments between the ginormous action set pieces are packed with excellent one-liners. Robert Downey Jr's Iron Man and Benedict Cumberbatch's Doctor Strange are in particularly excellent form, while the moments between the Guardians Of The Galaxy are as hilarious as ever.

Things are set up perfectly for next year's second instalment...

You'll get no spoilers here, but we'll say this, there's a lot of work still left to do for the remaining heroes and we can't wait to see them get stuck in.

Avengers: Infinity War will be released tomorrow (April 26th) in UK cinemas and will be available to pre-order from hmv's online store on the same day.

You can check out all of Marvel's previous instalments here in hmv's online store.
