Ben Affleck confirmed to direct solo Batman movie
Ben Affleck has been confirmed to direct the next stand-alone Batman movie.
The star, who made his debut as the caped crusader in last month's Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice, was known to be writing a script for the movie, but now Warner Bros. chairman and CEO Kevin Tsujihara has confirmed Affleck will also direct it.
Affleck has been working on the script with Geoff Johns, who is DC Comics’ chief creative officer, on the script for the movie. Johns is a comic book veteran and has written series including Green Lantern, Aquaman, Batman, Justice League, The Flashand Superman. He also has written TV series superhero transfers Smallville, Arrow and The Flash.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Tsuijhara confirmed the news last night (April 12th), saying of Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice: "It set up a great foundation for our DC slate, which includes at least 10 movies through 2020. I'm also excited to know that we will be working with Ben Affleck on a stand-alone Batman movie."
Though Tsujihara did not comment on a release date for the solo movie, it is rumoured that it will take one of the slots that were given to two more as yet untitled DC movies which were given release dates of October 5th in 2018 and November 1st in 2019 last week. The other is reported to be a sequel to Suicide Squad.
